Anyone considering HBOT should share their full health history with a clinician, especially if they have lung conditions, ear issues, a recent cold or congestion, certain medications, or a history of seizures. An untreated collapsed lung is a major contraindication.

If you are managing a wound, recovering from radiation injury, or facing another recognized medical indication, a physician can determine whether a referral to an accredited hyperbaric program is appropriate. If your interest is broader recovery or day-to-day vitality, treat the conversation differently: ask what evidence applies to healthy adults, what alternatives may offer similar support, and how progress will be measured.
